Deep in the Heart of Texas

After reading the title, I hope you sing that song all day.  I know Hubby is sick of hearing it from me!

As you know I tagged along on Hubby's business trip to San Antonio, TX.  Things didn't go as planned and I thought I would share our adventure, starting on Thursday morning.

Our flight changed and we ended up being re-routed through Minneapolis, MN.

Of course I was dressed for the south, so it was a bit of a shock.  I debated about throwing a hissy fit, but instead made the most of this set back.

My brother, who lives in Minneapolis, had the afternoon available.  And, our long time family friend and Grandpa to our girls, Mark, happened to be in town as well.  As you can imagine, we do not get to see either of them very often, so it was a great pleasure to have lunch with them at the Mall of America (and shop at the big, kick ass Nordstrom).

Just thrilled to be here!

For some reason I was meant to be in Minneapolis.  Mark moved to Ecuador yesterday, so I was able to spend time with him.  Everything for a reason.

We did arrive in San Antonio where the weather was warm, the sun was shining and the vacation (for me), began.

Just look at the color of the sky!

We had a suite at the Spurs game on Friday night for Hubby's customers.  This is where I learned about the Texas culture.  Boy was I shocked!

Before I share the authentic Texas tales, let me say to those who have asked - we walked around The Alamo.  As reported on national news, The Letter was on display at The Alamo and it was Texas Independence Day.  What does that mean?  A 3+ hour wait to get inside The Alamo.  No thank you.

Can you see his spurs?

The Alamo
Enough of the tourist stuff.  On to the Heart of Texas.

At the game, I met one of Hubby's clients.  He is a real cowboy.  The hat, boots, belt and the accent.  That was not as impressive as his hunting stories.  They were so crazy that I asked him to text photos, because no one outside of Texas would ever believe me.

First off, he wears boots up to his knees because the rattlesnakes try to bite him while hunting.  Look at this snake!

Look at the size of that snake!  Yep!  He can get big money for that baby, like $1,000!

I guess if you're a hunter, you seek out all kinds...

Looks like a walking stick.

Scorpion

Big Fish!
There is some truth to everything being bigger in Texas!
I will definitely return to Texas.  I still need to dance the two-step, hunt, see a snake, see a wild boar and go junkin'.  Lots to do deep in the heart of Texas!
A huge thank you to all our new friends in Texas for a great weekend!

XO-
